WELCOME NOTE from Samkelo Ngwenya (BCM Metro Communications Manager)

As Buffalo City Metro we believe that radio is the fastest medium that provides instant feedback on different issues that affect people on the ground. It is against this notion that we have developed a platform that responds directly to our communication strategy which seeks to make communication easy between Buffalo City Metro and the communities it serves. Buffalo City News on Radio is aired on three leading community radio stations in the Metro and on SABC's Tru Fm.

The content contains development news where we give update to our residents about what is happening around them. This platform also gives our residents a chance to talk to their metro and the metro to talk back to them. Every third home has access to radio and this makes it easy for the people to access information. Our approach is based on informing and educating our communities about the services that the Metro provide.

Communication is a strategic tool for Service delivery and it is our responsibility to make sure that people are informed about the developments that are taking place in their wards and that being done in a language they understand.

The news covers mainly core service delivery such as:

• Human settlement
• Water
• Electricity
• Economic Development

• Sanitation
• Roads
• Tourism

This radio platform is complimented by our newsletter publication such as BCMM Monthly and Metro Voice. Most of the news covered in these publications can be heard on radio and downloaded in this website. We encourage you to interact with us and share some tips on how we can improve this facility. We align ourselves with BCMM's vision which strives to be a "responsive, people centered and developmental city".

The frequency of BCMM News on radio is as follows:

Tru Fm: Wednesdays 12h30-13h30

Kumkani Fm: Wednesdays 18h00-18h10

Mdantsane Fm: Wednesdays 18h00-18h10

Izwi Lethemba Fm: Wednesdays 18h00-18h10

In the near future we will include Link Fm and Wild Coast Radio.
